Oscar nominated VFX artist joins short film "R.E.X."

Neville Page, the concept artist behind such films as AVATAR, PROMETHEUS, STAR TREK, and the upcoming NOAH, has signed on to design the title character in R.E.X, the VFX short film being directed by Micah Herman.

The story, based on new technology recently developed at DARPA, revolves around a young boy and his dog -- a robot dog which turns out to be a dangerous weapon the military will do anything to get back.

Principal photography is planned for the second quarter of 2014, and will be overseen by VFX supervisor Robert Nederhost (IRON MAN 2, AFTER EARTH), who will also serve as a producer on the project.

The goal is to turn the short into a feature and a screenplay is already in the works.
